Police in Edinburgh are investigating after officers recovered a large quantity of cannabis plants with a potential street value of between £50,500 to £75,500 from a property in St Peter’s Place
An intelligence-led operation allowed officers to execute a search warrant at the former St Kentigerns Church on Friday 3rd April under the Misuse of Drugs Act.
As a result, around 105 plants were seized within the building along with various drug-related paraphernalia.
Police are keen to trace the private tenants of the property as quickly as possible and anyone who can assist officers with their ongoing enquiries is asked to come forward.
Detective Inspector Stuart Harkness said: “Acting on vital intelligence gathered from the public we were able to remove a significant quantity of illegal drugs from our community. As part of our ongoing enquiries I would ask those with any relevant information such as details on the vehicles and people who regularly visited the premises, to contact police immediately.
“We are committed to targeting those who deal in drugs and those involved in serious and organised crime.
“I would appeal to those with information about criminals operating within their community to provide that information to us either through contacting 101, or in confidence by contacting the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
