It was a weekend to remember for Hibs youngster Conner Duthie, making his first team debit as a substitute against Dumbarton on Saturday then scoring twice as  Hibs under-20s overcome their Queen’s Park counterparts 3-0 at Easter Road on Sunday afternoon in the Little Big Shot Youth Cup quarter-final.

His first came from the penalty spot in the 11th minute then he added a second in the 37th minute.

Taylor Hendry completed the scoring in the 56th minute.

Afterwards Development Coach Joe McBride told the club website:

He said: “I think we played in spurts, there were some good bits and some not so good bits, we were coming off the back of a terrific performance on Monday and I was hoping for the same, but we got it in little bits today.

“We created plenty of chances, we didn’t take as many as we’d have liked, but we took three and kept a clean sheet which is always good.”

“I was really pleased for Conner (Duthie). That eight or ten minutes he got yesterday shows that in football you never know the minute, you’ve got to be ready. His first today was a penalty which he stuck away clinically.

His second one was a wonderful strike and I said to him that I couldn’t believe he passed up the opportunity of a hat-trick late on in the game when he passed it wide to Callum (Crane). I’m delighted for him.”

“It’s great to get into the last four and it would be wonderful to go another step into the final, but I’m sure it will be top teams that are left in the hat now.

“It’s going to be difficult whoever we get drawn out against in the semi-finals.”

Hibernian under-20s: Kleton Perntreou, Aaron Dunsmore (Kevin Waugh, 80), Ben Stirling, Neil Martyniuk, Jordan McGregor, Jordan Sinclair, Scott Martin, Callum Crane, Taylor Hendry, Conner Duthie, Oliver Shaw (Jack Breen, 75). Unused substitutes: Brennan, Watson, Mackay.
