Police in Edinburgh are investigating following the attempted robbery of a fourteen-year-old girl in the Granton area of the city yesterday (22nd September.)
Around 7pm, the victim was walking with a friend along the footpath which runs from the red bridge across West Granton Access to the railway bridge crossing Crewe Road North.
Just before they reached the bridge across Crewe Road North, four males jumped out from behind bushes and pushed the victim to the ground. They attempted to take her rucksack from her, but after a struggle the suspects ran down a set of adjoining steps and were lost to sight in Crewe Road North.
The four male suspects are described as 15 to 16 years old, all medium build, all wearing hooded tops with hoods pulled up and faces covered. One was significantly taller than others and wearing a grey hooded top and black jogging pants.
Detective Sergeant Lynsey Thomson said: “This incident was incredibly distressing for the young girl involved and we are appealing for anyone who may have seen a group of four males around 7pm in the area of West Granton Access and Crewe Road North.
