A Jason Cummings double plus strikes from Liam Craig and Alex Harris ensured that Alan Stubbs’ Hibs reign started with a comfortable 4-0 win against Lowland League Vale of Leithen at Victoria Park this afternoon.

The new Hibs Head Coach took the entire playing staff to Innerleithen with the exception of the injured Paul Heffernan and Scott Robertson.

Former Wigan defender Adam Ruxton and Liverpool youngster Nathan Burke took part as trialists.

Around 1500 Hibs fans made the short trip to the Borders and were more than satisfied with the performance.

With all three goalkeepers having been released, the Easter Road men started with youngster Kleton Perntreou between the sticks.

After a lively opening, Hibs took the lead in the 31st minute when teenage defender Neil Martyniuk’s cross found Cummings unmarked in the box and the young striker finished in style.

Cummings added a second in the 58th minute following good work by Sam Stanton whose shot was parried by the Vale keeper.

Ten minutes later Craig made it 3-0 then Harris completed the scoring when he calmly slipped the ball between the keepers legs.

Hibs, who are hoping to add several new signing this week travel to Berwick on Saturday to continue their pre-season workout.
