Crusaders’ Chase & Duck Race
Musselburgh
Monday 21st July 2014
A large crowd gathered by the banks of the River Esk on Monday evening to see Alistair Barclay being sashed Club Captain of The Crusader’s Riding Club.
The ceremony was performed under the old Roman Bridge by Mr Brian Lees, prior to the annual Crusader’s Chase and Duck Race.
Crusader’s Riding Club was formed in 1937, and in 1949 a Club Charter was presented to the club, which is now read out during the flag-raising ceremony when the Honest Lad raises the flag to signify that Musselburgh Festival has begun.
Musselburgh Festival is packed with events until its climax on Sunday 27 July and details can be found at http://www.honesttoun.co.uk
