Drugs and weapons were seized in Edinburgh yesterday as part of the on-going Operation Wolf activities.
High-visibility patrols were carried out in and around the St Leonards area of the city to detect and deter a variety of offences, which regularly impact on the local community.
During the activity a 22-year-old man was found on Clerk Street in possession of a homemade baton, which was seized. He is scheduled to appear in court today.
Another search was carried out when officers found a male in possession of a syringe on Nicolson Street. A number of diazepam tablets were then found during the personal search. The 45-year-old will now be reported to the Procurator Fiscal.
Police also visited four local licensed premises to speak with staff and remind them of their responsibilities under the terms of their licenses.
In addition, three people were arrested for warrant offences and various pieces of intelligence were gathered, which will now be progressed.
Superintendent Matt Richards said: “Local residents and businesses within the St Leonards area and surrounding streets have identified issues such as drugs and antisocial drinking as a concern and so our activity yesterday was aimed at addressing these matters.
“From the patrols, visits and searches carried out yesterday nearly all resulted in drugs, weapons or alcohol being recovered.
“We will continue to identify community concerns throughout Operation Wolf and appropriately deal with those responsible for committing criminal offences.”
