Hibs’ EOS clinched promotion into the Central Taxis Premier Division after beating Ormiston 4-2 at Recreation Park thanks to goals from Lewis Allan (two), Gareth McCaffrey and Jamie Beaton.
Head of Academy Coaching James McDonaugh told Hibernian TV: “It was another very difficult away game with the wind playing a big part in the game.
“We started poorly and conceded early in the game then went 2-0 down. However this second goal seemed to waken us up and the sense of injustice – there appeared to be a double hand-ball – spurred the players on.
“We pulled one back when Allan made a good run and shot, this time we were fortunate as the deflection helped us.
“Black then drove into the box and squared for Allan to score again and this was a big goal to level us at the break.
“We played with the wind in the second half and a quick McCaffrey strike allowed us to control the game. I was happy with the overall character we showed and in particular the way we managed the game.
“Jamie Beaton ended the game in the dying minutes with a fantastic free-kick into the top corner to seal our win.
“I’d like to congratulate my players for showing great character and spirit having lost to Kelso, beaten Celtic and now returned to the top of the First Division.”
