Police are appealing for witnesses following a serious road collision around 2pm yesterday.
A 74-year-old man was walking home along Newcraighall Road and was at the AMCO construction site when he was involved in a collision with a lorry, which was reversing.
The man sustained serious injuries to his legs and torso and was taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh where he remains in a serious condition.
Road Policing Officers responded to the scene and partially closed the road for around four hours while they carried out an investigation at the scene.
Anyone who can assist with these ongoing enquiries is asked to come forward.
Sergeant Brian Smith said: “The elderly male has sustained some serious injuries as a result of this collision and we are now keen to speak with anyone who was in the area at the time.
“Motorists, pedestrians and other members of the public who witnessed the incident, or who have information relevant to this investigation are asked to contact police immediately.”
