Police in Edinburgh are appealing for witnesses following a robbery at a newsagent’s in Currie last night.
The incident happened about 6.45pm at H&S Newsagents on Lanark Road West.
A member of staff was working within the shop when a man walked into the shop. He approached the counter and instructed the victim to put the cash from the till in a bag.
The victim complied with this request and the male made off from the shop and onto Bryce Road.
Detectives are now urging anyone who can assist with their enquiries to come forward.
The suspect is described as male, white, early 20s, slim to medium build, 5’7” to 5’10” in height, local accent, with blue eyes, wearing a black beanie hat, black scarf, blue tracksuit top, grey nylon tracksuit bottoms and carrying a black rucksack.
Detective Sergeant Keith Mailer from Police Scotland said: “The victim was not injured during this incident, but was left very distressed.
“We are conducted local inquiries to see if residents in the area saw anything suspicious and are keen to hear from anyone with information that can help with this investigation.
“Similarly, anyone who recognises the description of the suspect and can assist officers in identifying him is asked to contact police immediately. “Those with information can contact police on 101 or alternatively, via the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 in complete anonymity.
