POLICE UPDATE: Mr Gibson now traced and is safe and well
Police in Edinburgh are appealing for information to help trace a man with dementia who has gone missing in the west of the city.
Samuel Gibson, known locally as Tommy, was last seen around 5pm yesterday (31st October) near to his home address in Stenhouse Drive.
Since then the 77-year-old has not been seen or heard from, and concern is growing for his safety.
He is described as white, 5ft 9in to 5ft 10in tall, slim build, with short black hair that is combed back. He is believed to be wearing a blue lightweight jacket, denim jeans and black shoes.
Inspector Bob Innes, from Police Scotland, said: “Mr Gibson has dementia, and concern is growing for his safety the longer he remains missing.
“We are carrying out inquiries in the local area to try and establish his current whereabouts, and we are appealing for help from anyone who may have seen or heard from him since he went missing.
“He is known to visit the Laich Pub and the Chesser Sports Bar, which are located opposite each other in Gorgie Road, and it is possible that he may have visited one of these establishments last night.
“Anyone who has seen or spoken to Tommy since his last reported sighting should contact police as a matter of urgency, similarly anyone who has seen an individual matching his description overnight or this morning should also get in touch.”
