Police Scotland has released images of a male they wish to trace in connection with a robbery in Edinburgh’s city centre last year.
A 24-year-old man was assaulted and robbed of money that he had just withdrawn from a cash machine on the south side of the Grassmarket, shortly after 10pm on Thursday 26th July 2012.
Detectives are keen to trace the male pictured in the CCTV images to assist with their enquiries.
He was also seen in the Cowgate area shortly before the robbery. He is described as white, 16-20-years-old, between 5ft 2ins and 5ft 6ins tall with a slim build and wearing a grey hooded top, dark beanie style hat, dark tracksuit bottoms and white trainers. He also had a scar on his left cheek just under his eye and spoke with a local accent.
Anyone who recognises the male in the images is asked to contact police immediately.
Detective Constable Kevin Watt said “Fortunately the victim was not seriously injured as a result of this incident, but was understandably shaken by the ordeal.
“The police wish to speak to the male shown in the CCTV images and anyone who recognises him is asked to contact police immediately.
“Similarly, anyone with any other information that can assist with our investigation is also urged to come forward.”
Those with information can contact Police Scotland on phone number 101 or the charity Crimestoppers in complete anonymity on 0800 555 111.
