Hearts have announced they have sold their allocation of 3,800 tickets for next week’s League Cup quarter final tie with Hibernian at Easter Road. The Maroons have not won in the league since defeating Aberdeen at Tynecastle in August and their only victory ‘on the road’ this season was in the League Cup when they defeated Raith Rovers in a penalty shoot-out at Starks Park.
It’s another astonishing show of loyalty from the Hearts support who refuse to give up on their team, despite Gary Locke’s side languishing at the foot of the SPFL, still on minus seven points after having 15 points deducted for going into administration during the summer.
As well as large attendances at Tynecastle, the travelling Maroon Army have also been on the march in large numbers with a huge following present at Perth, Inverness, Dingwall and Motherwell already this season. Despite the Edinburgh derby cup-tie at Easter Road on 30 October being shown live on BBC Television, the Hearts support have again demonstrated how much their club means to them with their ticket allocation sold with more than a week to go until the game.
The League Cup quarter final promises to be another dramatic evening with Hibernian looking to exact revenge following their defeat the last time the sides met in the SPFL at Tynecastle in August. Whatever happens, nearly 4,000 Hearts supporters will ensure there is a fervent atmosphere at the home of their city rivals.
