A West Lothian community project has been shortlisted for a chance to win £100,000 of Big Lottery Funding to transform the local community through a Kew Royal Botanic Gardens wild flower initiative, Grow Wild.

The programme is designed to bring people together to make a positive difference to their local community and create a sense of pride and ownership in the place they live.

The ‘Frog Pond Rises’ project will mean that a much-loved pond and park area could undergo a transformation through wetland creation and the design of a wild flower ‘structure’ by Higher Design pupils at James Young High School.  It is being led by West Lothian Council in conjunction with James Young High School, Friends of the Froggy and environmental charity Central Scotland Forest Trust.
