Three football fans who were involved in an unprovoked confrontation with rival supporters in the Paisley High Street area on 16 February, ahead of Hibs fixture with St Mirren at St Mirren Park have been banned from attending games for a total of six years.

At the time of the incident the thoroughfare was busy with pedestrians including young children who were caught up in the disturbance, and the men were sentenced today at Paisley Sheriff Court today.

Terence Mark Gilmour (30)  from Edinburgh was sentenced to a 2 year Community Payback Order, ordered to carry out 250 hours of unpaid work and given a two year Football Banning Order.

In July, Gilmour plead guilty to a charge involving behaviour likely to incite public disorder, contrary to Section 1(1) of the Offensive Behaviour at Football and Threatening Communications (Scotland) Act 2012.

Two other men were also sentenced for the same offence on 23 August. Ryan Brown (19) was sentenced to carry out 150 hours of unpaid work as part of a 12 month Community Payback Order and Steven Piercy (18) was sentenced to carry out 225 hours of unpaid work as part of a 15 month Community Payback Order. Both were given two year Football Banning Orders.
