Firefighters were called to a kitchen fire in the nightclub C C Blooms on Leith Walk shortly after 3pm this afternoon.

The premises were evacuated and there were no casualties. Although they extinguished the flames, crews from Tollcross and McDonald Road fire stations remained on the scene to vent smoke from the building. It is believed that the fire started in a microwave oven in the club’s kitchen.

Over the weekend Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) teams tackled a fire at a Midlothian school.
