Police in Edinburgh are appealing for information following an assault and robbery in the city centre.
The incident happened around 1.20am on Monday 1 April 2013 near to the Omni Centre.
The 25-year-old victim was walking near to St Mary’s Cathedral when he was approached by the suspect, who chased him to an area behind the Omni Centre, where the assault took place. The suspect robbed him of cash and a mobile phone, before running off towards Picardy Place.
He is described as white, in his early 20s, around 5 feet 8ins tall, and of medium build. He was wearing a black woollen hat and a black jacket.
Detective Constable Mark Seymour said: -“While the victim sustained relatively minor injuries, he was left badly shaken by his ordeal, and we are appealing for information that can help us identify the suspect.
“We would appeal to anyone who remembers seeing anything suspicious in the area around St Mary’s Cathedral and the Omni Centre around the time of the assault to contact police immediately.
“Similarly, anyone who recognises the description of the suspect is also asked to get in touch.”
