TRAM JOURNEY MARKS COMPLETION OF FIRST SECTION

The Edinburgh Reporter went out to Ingliston Park and Ride this morning just after 8 and jumped on a tram along with other media people, (yes the telly people were there) MSPs, Councillor Hinds, Gordon Dewar from Edinburgh Airport and representatives from Edinburgh Tram and CAF.

There were several trips up and down the line to Gogar and the airport which was pretty exciting. The Transport Minister, Keith Brown MSP was there and also Councillor Lesley Hinds the Transport Convenor.

We have photos and video but while we are editing our footage of that here is a little live video of part of the trip to keep you going.

Some random tram thoughts:-

The tram was pretty fast on certain stretches.

It is completely level to step into from the platform. There is a lot of space for stowing luggage.

The two drivers we met are really enthusiastic about their new jobs. There are currently 12 drivers in training. They will need more however as there are 27 trams in total.

More soon!
