NEW YOUTH PARLIAMENT LINE-UP REVEALED
The newest Members of the Scottish Youth Parliament to represent Edinburgh were announced today, as part of the biggest youth elections ever run in Scotland.
A total of 16 young people from all areas of the city stood for election. The 12 new MSYPs will take up their role officially in June.
The new representatives were voted in on a range of manifesto promises including better recreational spaces for young people, and increasing the National Minimum wage for under-18s.
Councillor Cammy Day, Chair of the Edinburgh Youth Issues Forum said:- “It is fantastic to see so many young people engaging in the political process – whether by standing to be an MSYP or by voting for their favourite candidate. It just goes to show how switched on and engaged Edinburgh’s young people are.
“I’d like to congratulate everyone who took part, and I look forward to engaging with the work of our 12 new MSYPs. I’d also like to encourage all those who stood in the election to continue to play a part in the Edinburgh Youth Issues Forum’s ongoing work across the city”.
The Edinburgh election was organised by the City of Edinburgh Council’s Children and Families Service.

Central: Wing Yan Ng and Ciaran Davidson
Eastern: Assad Khan and Megan Smith
Northern and Leith: Katie Evans and Terri Miller
Pentlands: Alisha Malik and Calum Fila
Southern: Sofia Della Sala and Sara Findlay
Western: Dean Pearson and Owen Cruikshank
1. The Scottish Youth Parliament is a non-party political organisation made up of 150 young people aged 14-25 and represents every constituency in Scotland.
2. It campaigns to highlight the voice of Scotland’s young people on a national and international stage and sits three times each year at a range of different locations, including in the main chamber at Holyrood’s Scottish Parliament.
