Scotland finished in 12th position out of 15 competing nations in the 30th European Coarse Angling for Nations at Cavan Lakes, Killeshandra, Co. Cavan in Ireland.
Italy won the event with England second and Germany third. Wales finished ninth.
Mark Lyons was the Tartan team’s top angler and he finished in 26th position. Gus Brindle was next best in 39th spot with Brian Clark down in 50th.
James Dornom from Currie, Midlothian, was 64th and Colin Hart two places below him in the field of 81 anglers.
Dunfermline-based Brindle (pictured by Nigel Duncan) said: “Ultimately, all the guys, anglers and bank runners alike, worked really hard and showed great team work throughout the week and should be really proud of their effors.
“We also learned a lot of lessons which will stand us in better stead for future years.”
On to fly fishing, and Scientific Anglers host a weekend at Edinbugh Angling Centre on July 4 and 5 where anglers can receive free casting tuition and have a chance to win a new Primal Bold fly rod.
