Edinburgh Monarchs regained the Scottish Cup with a 47-42 win over Glasgow Tigers to complete an 11-point overall aggregate win.

The result ensured that the Monarchs remained unbeaten over their rivals throughout the 2026 season, with three wins and three draws.

Kye Thomson top-scored with 12 points at Armadale in the second-leg and he will remain with the club next season, whilst reserve Jordy Loftus impressed with eight points and three bonus.

Tigers’ guest Nick Morris (Berwick Bandits) top scored with 11 points, skipper Chris Harris accumulated 10 points and two bonus points and ex-Berwick racer, Leon Flint, all reached double figures, but it was not enough.

Alex Harkess, Edinburgh’s manager, said: “The night went very well considering the conditions, and it was an excellent way to finish.

“As the night went on gating became more important. In the big races we gated well. Glasgow threatened to come back at us but we did the job. It was nice to get the 5-1 in heat 14 and take the pressure off.”

Glasgow team manager, Cami Brown, said: “Armadale is a really hard place to go at the best of times, but the conditions were tricky in the wet.

“We started slowly and the Monarchs took control but we fought back really well and were only one point down on the night with two races to go.

“It was the story of our season really, too many passengers once again. I’m hugely disappointed to end the season in that manner.”
