Edinburgh Monarchs may have reached the play-offs, but their squad skidded to back-to-back defeats in the Cab Direct Championship.
The Armadale men were whipped 61-29 at Scunthorpe Scorpions on Friday and followed up with a 53-36 reverse at Berwick Bandits 24-hours later.
This was not what bosses wanted ahead of the final four match-ups.
Kye Thomson was the only Monarchs racer to make double figures, collecting 13 points, thanks to three wins out of six starts, and the next best was Jonathan Grahn with seven.
Monarchs’ No 1, Dan Thompson, disappointed with five points.
Three Bandits had three racers in double-figures. Aussie racer, Reid Battye (pictured), was best with 14 with two heat wins and four second places, while Nick Morris top scored with 12 winning three of his five starts.
Peter Kilemand, who has announced his retirement, totalled ten.
The victory ensured that Berwick went through their home season unbeaten, a significant achievement according to team manager, Stewart Dickson.
There were only three points in the match after nine races with the scoreline at 28-25 in favour of the Borders combine, but they mugged Monarchs with a 5-1 in Heat Ten, a 4-2 two races later, and 5-1 scores in the final two heats as Berwick took the aggregate bonus point.
