Berwick Bandits made the long journey to Plymouth looking to win the MAXiCab KO Cup for the first time since 1989, and the third time in their history.
They kept their nerve to achieve their objective thanks to a 45-45 scoreline in the second-leg.
Nick Morris (pictured) played a crucial role, top scoring with 13 points and one bonus as Bandits mugged the Plymouth side 103-77 on aggregate.
The victory ensured that Bandits boss Stewart Dickson created a piece of history by becoming the first team manager to win the KO Cup in both senior leagues in the same season, after previously being successful at Premiership level with Leicester Lions.
This was the last item of silverware this season at Championship level and the Borders club delivered in style, much to the delight of their 300 travelling fans.
The Borders club won the opening leg 58-32 and they faced a Gladiators squad minus Daniel Klima who was racing in the European Pairs. Vinnie Foord stepped in to guest.
Berwick were also hit by injury and Senna Summers replaced Jack Smith.
Dickson forecast a tough night as Plymouth race their track well, but believed the pressure was definitely on the home side.
He asked his riders to be focussed and use all their experience. They did and the final was over before the last heat as the maths spoke.
Best for the home side on the night was Ben Barker who rode for Berwick in 2015 and, sportingly, Gladiators congratulated Berwick and added: “It was not the result we were hoping for, but credit where it is due.”
