Simon Gawesworth is one of the most respected names in fly casting and he is guesting at the Edinburgh Angling Centre (EAC) on Saturday, August 22 (10am to 3pm).
He regularly gives talks, presentations and casting demonstrations, as well as teaching, around the globe and he is in Scotland’s capital for the RIO Products, Sage Fly Fishing and Vision Fly Fishing UK casting weekend.
Gawesworth (pictured), who started fishing when he was eight in Kent, casting a line in a small lake in the grounds of his family home, and he has since fished in British, European and World Championships. In fact, he was elected captain of the England team for the 2003 World Fly Fishing Championships.
His articles appear in magazines and he brings a huge amount of knowledge and experience of the sport to the EAC.
A spokesman for EAC said: “This is a fantastic opportunity to meet Simon in person, talk all things fly fishing and pick his brains on casting, fly lines, tackle set-ups and how to get the best from your fishing.
“Simon will also be on hand to talk through the latest RIO fly lines and products so, whether you have a question about matching a line to your rod, improving your casting or simply want to chat fishing, make sure you come along and say hello.”
Attendees can try Sage, Vision and RIO tackle on the centre’s 70ft casting pond and there is a free adult a junior accuracy casting competition.
Prizes include a Vision XO Catapult worth £899.99 and there is casting advice and tackle guidance throughout the weekend which continues on Sunday. Gawesworth will not be there on the second day.
