This summer Leith Theatre will come alive during a three month long programme of theatre music and film – and the headline show is Restless Natives: The Musical.

The ensemble will include Kirsty MacLaren, Kyle Gardiner and Finlay McKillop who will lead the cast. Others who will be a part of the performance include Robin Campbell, Ailsa Davidson, Caroline Deyga, Stuart Edgar, Sarah Galbraith, Ava MacKinnon, Alan McHugh, and Harry Ward.

The stage musical is a completely new version of the cult classic film and will feature music by Big Country. It is being produced and directed by the same team behind the film. The story centres on outlaw twosome, the Clown and the Wolfman who ride again as Highland Highwaymen. They hold up buses and fleece tourists with charm and panache, winning international recognition. As the police close in tour guide Margot hopes that the Robin Hood heroes can restore national pride.

Restless Natives will be co-commissioned by producers Andy Paterson and Wild Yak Productions with the Leith Theatre Trust team. Writers Ninian Dunnett, Michael Hoffman and Andy Paterson, with composer Tim Sutton are behind the production designed to capture the hearts of a new generation.
