A 118 year-old record fell at Grange cricket club over the weekend when Carlton were defeated by six wickets in an Eastern Premiership duel at Raeburn Place.
Batting second, Grange surpassed a target of 326 with 20 balls to spare, thanks largely to an unbeaten fifth wicket stand of 202 by Jamie Crawley (119 no) and Ben Davidson (113no).
The partnership surpassed a previous effort by Grange batsmen against the Household Brigade in 1906.
That helped keep Grange on top of the table just ahead of Heriot’s going into the last four matches of the campaign.
Grange’s run-in comprises Forfarshire (a), Falkland (a), RH Corstorphine (h) and Stewart’s Melville (h).
Heriot’s have to face Watsonians (h), Forfarshire (h), Meigle (a) and Arbroath (a).
