A pre-season friendly football match in West Lothian between Broxburn Athletic and Edinburgh City was abandoned last night Wednesday 3rd July 2024 due to crowd trouble.

Officers were alerted to reports of a number of youths causing a disturbance within Albyn Park Broxburn around 7.45pm. 

Officers attended and following discussions with the match officials the game was abandoned at half time with the score 0-0 .  

It is understood that some of the youths set off pyrotechnics. 

No arrests were made. 

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 7.45pm on Wednesday, 3 July, 2024, we were made aware of youths causing a disturbance at Albyn Park, Broxburn. 

“Officers attended and following discussions the game was abandoned and the crowd dispersed.” 

Neither club has commented so far.
