Fife Flyers have confirmed that Anthon Eriksson has left the club with immediate effect and he becomes the third player to have departed after the recent departure of defenceman Reece Harsch, who has now singed for Cincinnati Cyclones, and Ben Hawerchuk who said he has quit professional ice hockey.
Eriksson was a summer signing for new coach Tom Coolen and the 6ft 3in forward made an early impression, becoming a fans favourite at The Fife Ice Arena.
He was named by the coach as one of the club’s alternate captains and, in his brief spell with Flyers, the 28-year-old Swedish-born centre or right win accumulated up 11 points in 23 games.
No reason has been given by the club for the surprise move and a statement said: “Fife Flyers are actively looking to sign a replacement player.”
