Peter Wright, former Scotland and British/Irish Lions prop forward, is returning to his rugby roots to coach Lasswade in National League Division Two where they open away to Kirkcaldy on 2 September.

‘Wade have moved quickly to fill a gap caused by the retirement of Brian Hughes.

Having started his rugby at Lasswade, Peter went on to win 21 Scotland caps and toured New Zealand with the Lions in 1993.

He has extensive coaching experience most recently with Glasgow High Kelvinside.

Peter said “I’m so chuffed and excited to be coming back to where it all started for me. Lasswade played a huge part in building my rugby career (before moving on to Boroughmuir) and I am looking forward to giving back. I’m also excited to be working alongside ex-teammates Billy Knowles and Ian Barr.”

Lasswade President, Billy Knowles, added “We are delighted to welcome Peter back after all he has achieved from starting his career here, progressing through our minis, school and 1st teams.”

Lasswade also welcome back Ian Barr, as he resumes as Director of Rugby, overseeing development, after time out to serve as Scottish Rugby president.
