- Ward – Almond
I am a former member of the British Army having served for 24 years, and I then settled in the Almond ward in 2012 after completing my time with the Royal Regiment of Scotland. I have been exposed to many of the issues that affect the ward.
I am keen to work on the issues that matter to the people most. As a father of two girls and originally from Newcastle Upon Tyne I have come to see Edinburgh as my home and am passionate about what transpires here.
I currently works for Openreach on fibre broadband build thus making sure Scotland strides into the digital age as fast as possible. This is my first foray into council activities and understand the huge challenges ahead, but life experience has taught me that you have to take them head on, because if you don’t then that’s the moment you stop moving forward.
Campaign issues
The main issues that got me involved into this year’s council elections were from a personal point of view the need to do better for the community in which I live in. Whether that’s from the state of the roads or the lack of infrastructure in the surrounding new developments and area and erosion of the green belt to the anti-social behaviour that purveys in the area and needing a focus on the victims.
I’ve seen first-hand the SNP/Labour administration sit on its laurels and miss opportunities to improve services for everyone and the only way to combat this is to hold them to account and gets what’s best for us all. That’s why I’m standing as the Scottish Conservative candidate for the ward and be the only credible party to challenge this mishandling and remove them from power.
