Emergency services were called to a fire at a two-storey Masonic Hall on Forth Street North Berwick earlier this morning.
Residents were evacuated from the adjacent houses as firefighters tackled the blaze.
Traffic management procedures were out into operation and Forth Street is currently closed.
There are no reported casualties at this time.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We were called around 7.40am on Monday, 9 November, to a report of a fire at a premises in Forth Street, North Berwick. Officers assisted colleagues in the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service with traffic management and the road is currently closed.”
A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We were alerted at 6.57am on Monday, November 9 to an automatic fire alarm signal at Forth Street, North Berwick, East Lothian.
“Operations Control mobilised six appliances including a height vehicle to the two-storey Masonic Hall where smoke could be seen issuing from the windows.
“Crews evacuated neighbouring properties as they worked to locate and extinguish the fire.
“There are no reported casualties at this time.”
