Hibs game against St Mirren on Saturday is in doubt after reports that a Saints’ first-team player testing positive for coronavirus on Monday.
The case was picked up during the Scottish Premiership club’s twice-weekly testing
Another round due to take place tomorrow and the player concerned is now self-isolating.
At present the game will go-ahead but that depends on the results of today’s testing.
The club will receive guidance from the SFA/SPFL Joint Response Group.
St Mirren previously had seven members of staff who tested positive for Covid-19 in July, but six were found to be false-positives after further screening.
Hibs midfielder Alex Gogic also tested positive two weeks ago but this was also found to be a false positive although he was required to self-isolate and subsequently missed the Aberdeen game.
Saturday’s game is due to take place in Paisley in Renfrewshire which is currently subject to the Scottish government’s local rules restricting visitors to homes.
The ‘Buddies’ had hoped to take part in the series of ‘pilot’ games with 300 spectators being allowed inside the stadium however the spike in cases in the area led to the rejection of the club’s proposal.
