At Bonhams Edinburgh auction house tomorrow at 11.00am there is an array of household items from silver jugs to paintings on sale – and the lots include a very tuneful selection of 12 music boxes.

The 19th century rosewood, brass and tortoiseshell inlaid cylinder music box shown below is made by the Swiss firm of Nicole Fréres and is estimated at around £4,000-6,000.

The sound was quite deafening when a couple of them could not be stopped – but lovely nonetheless!
