SGB Championship: Birmingham Brummies 48, Edinburgh Monarchs 36 (abandoned after 14 heats but result stands)
Birmingham: Adam Ellis 12, James Shanes 5, Zach Wajtknecht 6, Ashley Morris 8, Ulrich Ostergaard 2, Pace Castagna 11, Nathan Stoneman 4
Edinburgh: Ricky Wells 6, Justin Sedgmen 3, Josh Pickering 8, Joel Andersson 4, Cameron Heeps 9, William Lawson 3, Luke Ruddick 3
Edinburgh Monarchs skidded to a road defeat at previously misfiring Birmingham Brummies.
The Scots, fresh from a one-point home win over Leicester Lions, who are one of the tips for the SGB Championship title, won only three of the 14 heats.
And in-form Josh Pickering suffered a heavy fall in the final heat which caused the meeting to be abandoned but the result, a 48-36 victory for Brummies, stands.
The welcome win snapped a confidence-sapping seven-match losing run for the Midlands combine.
Pickering was the visitors top scorer with eight points but struggling Aussie racer Justin Sedgmen again disappointed with only three points.
Cameron Heeps was Monarchs’ top scorer with nine points and skipper Ricky Wells collected six.
Adam Ellis, recently restored to Brummies team, top scored with a 12-point maximum and Ashley Morris was next best with eight points.
