Bonhams next Asian Art sale in Edinburgh will take place on Thursday 21 March at 11.00 at 22 Queen Street Edinburgh EH2.
Highlights of the sale include:
- A Qing dynasty (1636-1912) huanghuali cabinet. The central pair of panel doors are heavily carved with a single dragon, bats and shou characters (indicating long life) amid clouds. Huanghuali is a tree that grows in China and is often used in Chinese woodworking. Estimate: £5,000-7,000
- A huanghuali ink palette and cover from the 18th/19th century. Estimate £2,000-3,000.
- A 19th century jade vase from a long-established Scottish collection. The body of the vase is carved to one side in relief with a crane beneath a flowering peach tree and to the other with a spotted deer beneath pine tree. Estimate: £1,500-2,500
- A large Satsuma vase by Kizan from the Meiji period (1868-1912). The piece is finely enamelled with two large panels of ladies and children on crossing bridges and in a garden. Estimate: £1,000-1,500
The Asian Art Sale itself takes place on Thursday 21 March at 22 Queen Street Edinburgh starting at 11 am.
