Hibs’ youngster Sean Mackie was delighted to come off the bench to make his second senior appearance in Friday evening’s 1-0 defeat away to Aberdeen and now he is determined to work hard and secure more first team game time.

It was Mackie’s first taste of competitive action since the 3-2 win at home to Raith Rovers on 26 April 2017 and he said it was a great experience for him personally, despite the disappointing loss.

The 20-year-old left back who joined Hibs from Raith Rovers where he made one first team appearance in February 2016.

Since then he has enjoyed loan spells at Berwick Rangers and Edinburgh City and he was a mainstay in last season’s league and cup success for the Development Squad.

Speaking of his appearance at Pittodrie, the highly rated youngster told Hibernian Media: “It was a great experience. It was my first appearance in the Premiership and it was against another big club in Aberdeen.

“When I got the call to say that I was going on it was great. I just wanted to get on and make an impact in the five minutes that I was on.

“There was a long gap between my appearances and you learn a lot about yourself during that time. You learn about your strengths and weaknesses and what you need to be working on.

“Now, I am hoping to get onto the bench more and hopefully get more game time. I’ll keep working hard and hopefully it comes.”
