Hearts pre-season began with a 2-1 win at Arbroath on Tuesday evening.
Aidan Keena opened the scoring just before half-time and Ross Callachan doubled the Gorgie side’s advantage five minutes before the end. Hester scored a late consolation for the Arbroath maroons.
Hearts Head Coach Craig Levein spoke before the game about fielding two teams in order to give as many players a game as possible and he was true to his word as he made 12 substitutions throughout the game.
