EuroHockey under-18 Championship, Second Division, Final: Russia 6, Scotland 3 (in Cardiff)
Scotland won the silver medal in the EuroHockey under-18 Championship, Division Two, when they were beaten 6-3 by Russia in the final in Cardiff.
Coach Andrew Brogdon did, however, earn promotion to the top tier of European hockey at under-18 level.
He praised his squad and the staff but Scotland were unable to overcome a 3-0 deficit after 27 minutes, the Russian goals coming in a nine-minute spell.
Andrew McConnell pulled one back for the Scots after 36 minutes but a goal a minute later from Russia was a blow.
Scotland, however, scored two goals in eight minutes from Alex Riddell after 39 minutes and Jamie Golden after 47 minutes but Russia killed off any chance of a shock with goals after 52 and 59 minutes.
