Glasgow captain Chris Harris will make his debut on Friday at arch rivals Edinburgh Monarchs as Tigers defend a ten-point lead in the Scottish Cup.
Former Grand Prix winner Harris had to pull-out of Glasgow’s opening clash with Edinburgh as his wife went into labour and he made a difficult dash back to the Midlands in a van losing power.
Harris said: “Amara-Mae was born at 3am but it was a stressful day.”
Meanwhile, the former Great Britain international said: “I heard rumours that Edinburgh hoped I would take a fortnight off with paternity leave. No chance. I’ve had a week with the family and now I’ll be back, I have a job to do.
“I was gutted to miss the opening meeting but family comes first and the management and riders of Glasgow were very supportive and that means a lot.
“They even took a great picture with a Cornish flag at Ashfield to say they were thinking of us. That was nice.”
Harris added: “We have a really good spirit at Glasgow and I’m looking forward to getting on the bike and racing at Edinburgh.
“I have the chance to pick up a trophy on my debut racing for Glasgow as captain so that would be great, but it’s going to be a tough meeting for us.
“I’m a winner though. We are not going there to defend a ten-point lead, we are going to win.
“For me this tie is now starting at nil-nil, we go to win. We have a side capable of that.”
