Supermarket discount chain Lidl’s plan to open a new outlet on Edinburgh’s Easter Road is on track for completion this autumn. Based on the site of the former B&Q store, the steel-framed store will be the first Lidl ‘Metropolitan’ supermarket in Scotland. There will be car parking spaces underneath the store with Lidl having the option to extend by adding further storeys to the construction. A full fit out of the sales area, storage space and staff welfare areas are also being completed.
The new store is being constructed by Clark Contracts who have already built other Lidl stores in Livingston, Craigmillar and Slateford.
