The EQ Apprentice, is the Edinburgh Quartet’s annual string competition designed to seek out the most promising players from across the country.

After an initial application stage, where EQ say they received a huge number of applications, they have selected 14 players to attend their audition day this Sunday 11 February 2018 at the Reid Concert Hall in Edinburgh.

Auditions will involve each player taking the place of a Quartet member, and performing two contrasting movements from a repertoire list set by the Quartet.

One previous apprentice winner, Emily Pond, said “Winning this competition was an absolute honour! I thoroughly enjoyed playing with the quartet from the moment I sat down in the audition. I knew going into the audition I wanted to enjoy the experience of playing with them there and then no matter what the outcome was. Going on to win was a bonus and wonderful surprise! I had one of the best weeks of my life so far performing with them”

Auditons are open to the public, and we would encourage our supporters and Friends to come along and support.  Auditions are split into multiple sessions throughout the day.
