Todd Dutiaume celebrated a weekend win double

Elite League: Edinburgh Capitals 1, Dundee Stars 2 (after penalty shots); Braehead Clan 1, Fife Flyers 4

Dundee Stars claimed a weekend win double over basement rivals Edinburgh Capitals after a nerve-jangling penalty shootout at Murrayfield.

Earlier, the sides had been locked at 1-1 at the final whistle and after sudden-death overtime.

Dundee’s early pressure told after ten minutes when player/coach Omar Pacha found the net.

He was left unmarked down the left and fired home a wrist shot into the top corner.

But Capitals, who lost 7-4 in Dundee on Saturday, refused to go away and then claimed the equaliser through Dylan Anderson after 25 minutes on the power play.

The game went from end to end and the points were settled after a tense penalty shot session with Riley Stadel and Marc-Olivier Mimar netting for Dundee. Mike Cazolla was the only Capitals player to convert.

Elsewhere, Fife Flyers continued to dominate Scottish rivals Braehead Clan after a 4-1 success in Glasgow following Saturday’s 3-2 overtime success at Kirkcaldy.

Evan Bloodoff claimed a third-period double with Shayne Stockton and Danick Gauthier singles.

Adam Brace replied for the Glasgow side after 58 minutes before Bloodoff scored on the empy net with 35 seconds left.
