Gin from Pickering’s in Edinburgh has been hand-picked by ALDI for the retailer’s first Scottish Gin Festival, which lands in stores across Scotland from Thursday 2 November.
The national listing will see thousands of bottles of Pickering’s Gin and Ginerosity on shelves across 75 ALDI stores across Scotland alongside eight other Scottish gins as part of a deal expected to be worth more than £347,000 to the distilleries involved.
The ALDI Scottish Gin Festival will see 10 Scottish gins joined by the perfect accompaniments including premium Fentimans mixers: Original Tonic, Light Tonic, Herbal Tonic and Rose Lemonade, as well as boxes of Gin Garnish from Ginology featuring juniper berries, cinnamon and orange zest.
Graham Nicolson, Group Buying Director for ALDI in Scotland, said: “This in-store festival further establishes ALDI as a committed supporter of Scotland’s thriving gin industry, and a must-visit for gin lovers across the country.
“The Scottish Gin Festival adds a fantastic mix of both established and up-and-coming distilleries to our existing award-winning gin selection, allowing us to provide even more choice and brilliant value to our customers – who we know are massive fans of Scottish gin.
“We’re incredibly proud to work with some of Scotland’s most respected distilleries for our first ever Gin Festival, and we’re looking forward to continuing our support for this flourishing industry.”
Stephen White, Founder of The Scottish Gin Society, said: “The ALDI Scottish Gin Festival is a brilliant platform for Scotland’s most diverse and exciting distilleries to introduce new customers to their products. This support for Scottish suppliers proves how in demand Scottish gin is – with the industry showing no signs of slowing down.
“Many of the distilleries featured in the Scottish Gin Festival were finalists at the recent Scottish Gin Awards, so shoppers can be certain of the outstanding quality available on Aldi shelves.”
Kirsten Speirs, founder of the Scottish Gin Awards, commented: “The first annual Scottish Gin Awards have revealed that Scotland is producing a fast growing and diverse range of premium quality gin which is hugely popular. This trend will no doubt be reflected in the future success of the ALDI Scottish Gin Festival giving customers the chance to enjoy premium Scottish gin at very reasonable prices. We are delighted to see so many of our finalists selected to take part as it furthers our work promoting the hard work of distilleries across Scotland.”
ALDI’s Scottish Gin Festival is in-store from Thursday 2 November while stocks last.
