Coach Cingel is looking for a response this weekend after a disappointing performance at home to Kirkcaldy Kestrels

Coach Martin Cingel admitted Sunday’s 7-4 home defeat by Kirkcaldy Kestrels was not the result Edinburgh Capitals’ Scottish National League squad wanted.

It was particularly difficult to take as the defeat came at Murrayfield and now Capitals travel to The Fife Ice Arena this weekend to face Kirkcaldy Kestrels in the Scottish Cup.

Cingel said his men need to start that game the way they finished Sunday’s encounter and he said: “Sunday’s result was not what we were looking for.

“We can blame ourselves. We took too many penalties and lost the game in the first two periods when we were 6-2 down.”

The Slovakian ex-player revealed there were some harsh words in the dressing-room and Cingel added: “Our game improved in the third period.”

For the record, Capitals’ goals came from Mike Ireland, Craig Main, Dean Walker and Harry Ferguson.
