Hibs’ youngsters Lewis Allan and Sean Mackie have joined Ladbrokes League Two side Edinburgh City on loan until January 2018.

Allan 20, spent half a season on loan with the club last season as he helped them to stay in the division, scoring four goals in the process. The forward has previously spent time on loan to Dunfermline Athletic, Forfar Athletic, and Livingston.

Full-back Mackie will be at Edinburgh City on a Development Loan, which will allow him to play with the Hibernian Development Squad. The defender, 18, was initially on loan at Berwick Rangers at the start of the 2016/17 season, scoring in a Betfred Cup tie against Kilmarnock. He also made his Hibernian debut as he came on as a substitute against Raith Rovers in April this year.

City manager Gary Jardine said: “I’m delighted to have Lewis back on board.  When planning for the season ahead, replacing what he’d given us over the previous five months was proving difficult such was the impact he made.  Aside from the quality he brings to the side he’s a top lad with a great attitude.  Hopefully City can provide him with the platform he needs to further his career.

“Having watched Sean closely over the last six months I think we have managed to bring in someone whose strengths make him an ideal fit for us in the same way that we will, I’m sure, be a good fit for him. Having lost Dougie Gair and Gordon Donaldson, Sean will give us natural balance on the left hand side of the park and I’ve no doubt he will be a hit amongst the support in a similar way to Ryan Porteous and Aaron Dunsmore.”
