Hearts added another player to their squad today when they signed Connor Randall on a season-long loan from Liverpool. Randall, 21, can play in midfield and defence and his versatility will be important in the season ahead. He has made eight appearances for the Liverpool first-team and Anfield manager Jurgen Kopp is keen for the player to get regular first-team action.
Hearts Head Coach Ian Cathro was delighted to capture a player he said he has been trying to get for some time. He told the official Hearts website:
“Connor’s a very hungry young player, athletically excellent and has experience in a number of positions,” he said. “He brings a great intensity to his play and I probably go back to the hunger that he has at this stage in his career.
“He’s a player that I’m really pleased to have been able to bring, he’s someone who we’ve been tracking, probably right since we arrived, as an option from a number of clubs that we talk to and spend a bit of time with.
“We’re pleased that he’s joined us.”
Randall is in the Hearts squad for Saturday’s must-win Betfred Cup tie against Dunfermline Athletic at Tynecastle. Kick-off is at 3.00pm. The game is being shown live on BT Sport.
