Hearts have completed the signing of Polish utility player Rafal Grzelak from Korona Kielce. Experienced at playing in defence or midfield, the 28-year-old has played with Wisa Plock, Dolcan Zabki, Podbeskidzie Bielsko-Biala and Korona Kielce. Grzelak has signed a two-year contract at Tynecastle, subject to international clearance.
He told the official Hearts website:
“I’ve always wanted to go and play in another country, but I didn’t want to go abroad just for the sake of it,” he said. “I wanted to go and play for a good club.
“When I knew that I could come here then I was very happy to come.
“I am very happy to be here because it is a very good club. It’s a club that has big ambitions. I can’t wait for the start of the season.”
Grzelak becomes Hearts third signing of the summer, joining Christophe Berra and Cole Stockton.
In other Hearts news, it is understood the club have rejected an offer from Rangers for attacking midfielder Jamie Walker. The offer is believed to be in the region of £500,000 but Hearts are understood to be looking for a least £1,000,000 for the player who has a year of his contract at Tynecastle still to go. The player has already indicated he wishes to leave Gorgie.
Finally, Hearts will play English Premiership newcomers Newcastle United in a pre-season friendly at Tynecastle on Friday 14th July. Ticket arrangements for the game – which will be played in front of three stands at Tynecastle while the new main stand is constructed – will be announced shortly. Kick-off for the game will be 7.45pm.
