Scotland head coach Derek Forsyth was pleased with the efforts of his squad against high-flying Netherlands in two weekend test matches.
Scotland lost 4-1 and 6-1 to their hosts who are ranked No 4 in the world as part of their build-up for the World League semi-final in London next month. Scotland are ranked No 23.
On Sunday, Netherlands were 3-0 ahead at the break in Amsterdam but a third quarter saw a revival in the Scots score, Dutch-based Kenny Bain sweeping the ball into the roof of the net.
Forsyth said: “We made a poor start to the game but there was a definite step-up in performance in the second-half. “We scored a good goal and the Dutch were restricted to much fewer chances in the second period, unfortunately we lost a soft goal in the final quarter.”
On Saturday, Scotland lost 6-1 with Willie Marshall, who plays for English side Surbiton, netting after good work from Bain.
Forsyth said: “We`ve not played as a team for a while and found ourselves up against one of the best sides in the world. But
“There were a lot of good things that came out and we have identified several areas to work on.”
