Police are appealing for witnesses following a serious road traffic collision on Lanark Road near to Baberton Crescent which happened around 2.50pm yesterday when a HGV struck a pedestrian.
A 74-year-old man was taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary where his condition is currently described as critical.
The road was closed for around four and half hours while collision investigations took place at the scene.
Sergeant Kosmas Papakyriakou from the Road Policing Unit at Fettes said:
“We believe that there was a number of people in the area at the time and we’re appealing for them to get in touch with us.
“Likewise, I would urge anyone who was on Lanark Road or near Baberton Crescent yesterday morning, and may have witnesses the accident, to contact us immediately.”
