It’s been a busy start to the year for Tom Chaplin, just back from an intimate American club tour with his amazing band. Luckily he’s found time to return to the studio and record a new version of ‘Solid Gold’ ft. Jones, one of the stand out tracks on his acclaimed debut album ‘The Wave’.

Tom explained : “When I wrote the middle section of the song, I always had it in mind that it should feel like a duet. After discovering JONES through a friend, I decided to make it a full duet. Having never done this kind of thing before, I was slightly dubious as to how it would work.
However once we got into the studio, it just added a whole new layer to the song.”

Tom describes ‘Solid Gold’ as a love letter to his wife. “I wanted to articulate how my view of our relationship had changed once I got myself clean. It’s one of the most poignant moments on the record.”

Having toured the UK last autumn, Tom embarks on a 15 date British tour in May including Edinburgh’s Queen’s Hall on 15 May 2017. His 24 carat band – Sebastian Sternberg, Rosie Langley, Tobie Tripp and Beau Holland – effortlessly swap instruments to recreate the lush, emotional sound of ‘The Wave’ driven by Tom’s captivating voice.
