Now in its fifth year, Spartans Football Club have teamed up with The Spartans Community Football Academy to ensure the North Edinburgh community is supported this Christmas with their Donate at the Gate event that offers fans the opportunity to watch football for free in return for a donation of items that will be distributed amongst those less fortunate at this time of the year.
At their forthcoming Ferrari Packaging Lowland League fixture against BSC Glasgow on Saturday (17th December, 3pm KO) the club will throw open the gates for FREE to all supporters who ‘Donate at the Gate’.
Santa Spartan will be on hand to collect all donations as we aim to put together packs of essential items for the Academy who are offering support to Granton Baptist Church’s Basics Bank and the Trussell Trust North Edinburgh Food Bank this year.
Previous Donate at the Gate matches have saw wheelie bins jam-packed with everyday items such as toothpaste, deodorant, shower gel, basic clothing items and non-perishable foods from kind hearted fans.
Generous visitors to the Academy over the last couple of weeks have given this festive offering a great start and those attending the match are asked to pop in a present this Saturday to give the appeal a final boost.
Spartans Chairman Craig Graham said, “The Spartans have a strong community ethos and we are delighted to continue our ‘Donate at the Gate’ scheme on Saturday, hopefully we can help raise a cheer on and off this pitch this Christmas”
